Big News: Two Shops, One Location!
Big News: Two Shops, One Location!
This summer, we’re expanding! We’re moving just around the corner from our current location to 628 Escobar St. You might recognize our new spot as the current home of S|B Trading Co., a beautifully curated home and lifestyle store. But don’t worry—S|B Trading Co. isn’t going anywhere; they’re simply transitioning to a slightly smaller space within the same building.
We’ve outgrown our current space on Estudillo, and we’re beyond excited to create a larger laser production area in the back and a bigger mercantile shop in the front. More space means more products and—of course—more fun!
When we first moved into our Estudillo St. location in the summer of 2023, opening a permanent retail shop wasn’t part of the plan. But over the past two years, a lot has happened, and we’ve had to adjust our business model. PIVOT, and pivot again! Here’s how things have unfolded:
July 2023: We got the keys to our Estudillo St. location and began transforming it into a one-stop custom wholesale and bulk order showroom, plus a laser production studio. I had been running this operation out of my home since 2021, and it was time for a seperate designated space.
September 2023: We officially moved out of my home studio (aka the guest room and dining room!) and into our new space. We continued making and selling my signature products for local retail and wholesale customers, while also selling online and at pop-up events. I booked a trip to the Las Vegas Retail Market to explore wholesale partners and check out potential competition.
November/December 2023: Balancing full-time parenting, running a business, and life in general, I realized setting up a fully functional showroom was going to take longer than expected. To make the most of the holiday season, we hosted temporary onsite product pop-ups featuring my signature items, with plans to resume wholesale product expansion in the New Year.
January 2024: And then—disaster struck. A clogged storm drain on the flat roof caused our shop to flood, and it was not pretty. By the time I discovered the flooding, 90% of my inventory was ruined, and our laser machines were already starting to rust. The renovation work, products, supplies, machinery—almost everything was a loss. Thankfully, we had some amazing friends who helped us salvage what we could and moved the remaining goods back to my home.
February 2024: After getting the green light from insurance, we cleaned up, and the building was deemed structurally sound. The good news was that we could stay, but the bad news was that I was left with no inventory, supplies, or machines. I didn’t know what to do next, but I knew I didn’t want to give up. The Vegas trip, already booked, was a much-needed escape, and it gave me the clarity I needed to keep frickin' going.
March 2024: With the encouragement of my husband, I decided to take a leap of faith and open a small, hometown-focused merchandise shop to operate on Sundays during the popular Farmers Market. After visiting other local shops, I felt my concept would complement the community, so I developed new products and designs (some laser-free!) and began sourcing from some local and other ethically driven suppliers. By April 20th, I was ready to open, hoping I had made the right decision.
May 2024: I replaced the damaged machines and restocked supplies. Word began to spread that I had reopened, and while summer was a bit slow, I was learning the ins and outs of running a legit retail shop.
September 2024: As fall approached, business picked up. Sundays expanded to weekends, and eventually, we increased our hours to accommodate more customers. The website received an overhaul and online orders increased. Shout outs to North Carolina and Iowa, my top ordering states aside from California!Â
December 2024: The back studio was up and running again, and with the help of a fantastic team, we made it through our first retail holiday season. It was a crazy. It was exhausting. It was inspiring. It was invigorating.Â
By then, it was clear: our retail shop and production studio were here to stay—but our small space couldn’t support both in the long run. That’s when an opportunity came up just a few steps away, thanks to my amazing fellow Martinez business owner, Carrie. Together, we decided to take the leap and expand into this new space!Â
On behalf of the whole Bare family, we’re incredibly grateful to our customers, friends, and community for supporting us as Blue Bare Made grows into Blue Bare Merc & Made. We are so excited to share this new space with S|B Trading Co. and can’t wait to see what the future holds!

🩵 All about Blue Bare Made 🩵
Blue Bare Made began in 2021, as a small Martinez home-based laser cutting and engraving business by Martinez native, Jenny Bare, and family (by involuntary proxy). =)
As the business grew, her house didn't. In mid-2023, she made the leap to a Downtown Martinez brick and mortar space, much to the happiness of the entire Bare family. :)
Jenny's small, but mighty, team built the space to serve as a manufacturing and production studio for Blue Bare Made branded retail and wholesale items. The largest portion of the expansion enabled Jenny to easily partner with local businesses, schools, groups and teams to create personalized promotional and private label merchandise, awards and corporate gifts.
Over the years, Jenny has utilized her professional background in public health, education, large-scale marketing, womaning, wife-ing and mothering, to create many designs and products for her own brands, her hometown of Martinez, other cities and locations and for other businesses, teams and groups. She enjoys getting to know fellow community members and small business owners.
Due to water damage in early 2024, Blue Bare Made had to close its doors for mass clean up and repairs. Beginning on April 20th, 2024, Blue Bare Made will be adding a permanent retail space to the front area of the studio, opening the space up for public shopping during certain days. This part of the shop will feature Blue Bare Made branded products and designs - including Jenny's signature Martinez branded merchandise, plus hand chosen unique specialty items that highlight the wonderful diverse Martinez community. Her mindset is to offer products and gifts that build hometown community, reflect humor/sarcasm, healing, neurodiversity, inclusivity, and empowerment mixed with a natural California Bohemian flair.
Jenny and family are passionate about supporting the local Martinez community and give a portion of their earning directly back to local schools, sports teams, adults and children with learning differences and other organizations.
Blue Bare Made is proud to be set amongst a block of women-owned small retail businesses. and encourages you to shop with our vibrant lady-owned business neighbors at The Roaming Sole, Hive Boutique, Faded Gold Vintage and Knots & Found. <3
Blue Bare Made is also so grateful for the ongoing support over the past 3+ years and is looking forward to opening our doors again soon.
